Good short pieces, if you know the series

"Book 7" of the a Wine of the Gods series is actually a group of seven short stories, some converted from 'extra' scenes written, but cut, from various books in the series, and some written as new short stories for this volume. If you've read through the first six books recently, it's pretty easy to recognize where the author is chronologically in the narrative-- these are pieces which clearly take place simultaneously with or immediately following episodes in the novels, but told from a different viewpoint and involving different characters. As an example, one of the short stories focuses on what characters from 'Spy Wars' were doing during the time period covered by 'Comet Fall' (any more detail on my part be a spoiler, detracting from the reading pleasure of anyone who hadn't yet read this book or the two previous).
I found this quite satisfactory, since I particularly enjoy those parts of the series that describe the culture shock (and the clash of cultures) resulting when people from our Earth's future (largely unchanged in culture or technology, despite 1,400 years difference) and the semi-medieval, semi-magical culture of the 'Earth' on which the novels and stories are located. Pam Uphoff is good at creating well-rounded, likable characters and believable interactions between them, and these stories were all the more enjoyable for re-introducing characters from earlier books into the actions taking place in the most recent one.
As with the previous six entries into the series, Ms. Uphoff could benefit from a good copy editor. Not only are there far too many typographical errors, but in some cases the same words are spelled incorrectly every time they are used throughout the series. Two that come to mind are 'ogle' or 'ogling', which she spells 'oogle' and 'oogling', and 'lightning', which she spells 'lightening'-- this latter is particularly distracting, because spelled with the extra 'e' it's a term used in obstetrics, describing a drop in the level of a woman's uterus during the final weeks of pregnancy, as the baby begins to be positioned for childbirth.
With that caveat, it is easy to recommend this volume to anyone who has read the previous half-dozen, and the previous half-dozen to anyone who hasn't.

Good continuation of the series

This is both a great read alone book and also a great continuation of the series. quick paced, with continuing development of the main characters and the introduction of interesting new ones. I am looking forward to reading the whole series.

A Wine of the God's story.

I chose this book looking for a good escape from health issues. It and the others in this series have provided much more han just an escape. This is a master storyteller's work which will give you a good insight into the series.
